Jussie Smollett taps Ledisi, P-Valley’s Brandee Evans, and more for ‘B-Boy Blues’ cast – Music News

Jussie Smollett is bringing in some major stars for his directorial debut, B-Boy Blues.
According to Deadline, Smollett has cast Grammy-nominated recording artist Ledisi, P-Valley star Brandee Evans, David Makes Man‘s Timothy Richardson and Thomas Mackie for his upcoming film which is an adaptation of James Earl Hardy‘s classic 1994 novel.
Written by Smollett and Hardy, the movie will follow the complicated romantic relationship between two Black men: Mitchell, a politically conscious magazine editor, and Raheim, a Harlem born and bred ruff-neck bike messenger.
Richardson and Mackie have been cast as the two leads, Mitchell and Raheim, respectively, meanwhile Ledisi will play Mitchell’s mother Ann Walker and Evans will play Mitchell’s assistant, Michi.
Broderick Hunter, Landon G. Woodson, Michael Jackson, Jr., Marquise Vilson, Jabari Redd, Brian Lucas, Heather B., Erik Williams, Otis Winston, Tiesha Thomas, Jahleel Kamara, Andre Virgo, Bry’Nt Bailey, Ilara Phoenix Williams, and Sampson McCormick have also been added to round out the cast.
As previously reported, Smollett will also co-produce the project under his recently formed SuperMassive Movies banner.
B-Boy Blues is currently in production in New York.
