Amanda Edwards/FilmMagicChloe x Halle kicked off the NFL season with more than just the nation anthem. They also delivered a tribute to George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

On Thursday, in a pre-recorded performance, the duo delivered a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem before the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans faced off. For the performance, Chloe wore a t-shirt with a picture of Taylor on it and the phrase “Say Her Name.” Halle donned a similar t-shirt but with Floyd’s photo.

On social media Chloe x Halle were praised for their outward support in the quest for justice for both Taylor and Floyd.

On March 13, Taylor was fatally shot while asleep in her Kentucky home by officers were executing a no-knock search warrant. Detective Brett Hankison was fired as a result of the incident, however, no one has been charged with killing the 26-year-old.

Floyd died in police custody in Minneapolis on May 25 after former officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck, despite Floyd’s repeated declarations that he couldn’t breathe. Floyd ultimately became unresponsive and died. He was 46. A widely-circulated video of the incident prompted protests around the world.
