Derek BlanksMulti-Grammy-winning singer Brandy returns with her long-awaited new single, “Baby Mama,” featuring Chance the Rapper.

Her daughter, Sy’rai, serves as the song’s inspiration, as do the sacrifices all mothers make to take care of their children.

“I wanted to do a song about her and speak to all baby mama’s out there that may feel like they can’t make it or they can’t push through, you know,” Brandy wrote on her YouTube page. “If you use your child as an inspiration you can do anything and I want everybody to feel that.”

Brandy seemed enthused about her upcoming album during an interview with True Exclusives on Wednesday.

“I’m super excited like I can’t believe it,” she said in the video. “I’m so nervous. This is crazy! I haven’t felt like this in so long.”

Proceeds from “Baby Mama” will help reduce the financial burden on single parent homeowners, thanks to a partnership with affordable housing providers. Homes for the Holidays program, part of Warrick Dunn Charities, will furnish their homes and provide down payment assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
