Kurt Russell shocked the world back in 1982 when a cult-classic horror/sci-fi movie was released with him in the lead role. Being nominated for the best horror film back in those days, John Carpenter-directed The Thing became one of the most fascinating movies to exist.

With an ending that seemed to be melancholic and yet incomplete, Kurt Russell and Keith David share a bottle of Scotch Whiskey at the end with distrust of the other. In a cryptic message, director John Carpenter hinted at the possibility of a sequel to the 1982 cult classic…and the fans went crazy.

“I have been sworn to secrecy, okay, because there may be, I don’t know if there will be, there may be a Thing 2.”

This isn’t the first time the director has shown interest in a sequel to the film. Alongside The Thing 2, the director also seems to be quite interested in working with veteran actor Kurt Russell once again as the duo discussed the possibility of a sequel to Big Trouble in Little China.

With rumors of a sequel, nothing has been confirmed yet as people ecstatically await a sequel to The Thing. The 1982 movie is available to rent on Apple TV+.
