10 Epic Upcoming Movies Nobody Is Talking About
Written by on June 11, 2023
Why is nobody talking about The Creator?
The first six months of 2023 have already seen a whole host of hotly anticipated features land in theatres.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse are just a few of the flicks fans simply could not wait to witness on the big-screen for themselves.
However, for every next big MCU adventure and compelling chunk of animation folks spend months talking and debating about before they even sit down to take in the action, there are also those other fascinating incoming films that haven’t been given quite the same level of attention.
It’s a shame, too, as some of the following entries look as though they hold all the potential to be some of the most captivating and enjoyable rides of this year and beyond.
But either due to just not possessing the same level of star power as other features or not being pushed as heavily as some other high-profile releases, these epic upcoming titles haven’t been talked about anywhere near as much as they should have recently.
So, it’s time to give these exciting projects – involving everything from massive sci-fi wars, to the debut of a fresh crime-fighting hero – some much-needed attention.
10. A Haunting In Venice
2022’s Death on the Nile may not have smashed it in quite the same way Kenneth Branagh’s prior Orient Express murder mystery did in 2017, but not even the film’s disappointing box office haul could keep 20th Century Studios from committing to a third Hercule Poirot investigation.
Despite dropping a trailer for that next slice of whodunnit suspense a few months ago, though, it’s safe to say that very few are aware of A Haunting in Venice even being a thing at this point.
Which is a bit disappointing really as the latest Agatha Christie adaptation, this time of the Hallowe’en Party story, looks like a gothic horror hoot.
This time bringing together a less problematic stacked cast, with the likes of Michelle Yeoh, Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Kelly Reilly, and Branagh as Poirot all being present, the series looks to be heading in a far more frightening direction here.
Yet, even with Poirot’s attempts to solve a murder at a seance feeling like an adventurous blend of supernatural scares and unexpected twists, Death at the Nile’s poor performance in theatres perhaps suggests that folks just aren’t as into Branagh’s Poirot-verse as they once were. And that could explain why there’s currently very little buzz surrounding the haunting set to land on September 15.
Or maybe folks just haven’t realised Poirot is even a part of this upcoming thriller due to the fact he only pops up for the final few seconds of the teaser!
