Big Slick sets new fundraising record for Children’s Mercy

Big Slick just keeps getting bigger in Kansas City.The celebrity charity weekend and benefit set another fundraising record in its 14th year,In the final event of the weekend, a Saturday night show and auction at the T-Mobile Center, the charity revealed that it raised more than $3.5 million for pediatric cancer research in 2023. The money raised by KC celebs Paul Rudd, David Koechner, Jason Sudeikis, Rob Riggle, Heidi Gardner and dozens of other celebrity guests goes directly to Children’s Mercy.The total of $3,524,001 in 2023 was the most ever for Big Slick, which has now raised more than $21 million since it was first started in 2010.The total was revealed on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Center, where the final event of the weekend took place with celebrities and performers taking part in an auction to raise money.Its popular celebrity softball game was once again a big hit in 2023, with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes once again stealing the show. The online auction was also a big success.A ticket to the red carpet premiere of an upcoming Ghostbusters film with Paul Rudd sold for $53,000, and a trip to see Saturday Night Live with Kansas City’s Heidi Gardner sold for $50,000 were some of the most expensive items sold at the live show Saturday at the T-Mobile Center.The celebrity hosts for the event also made a trip to Children’s Mercy earlier in the weekend to visit the kids at the Kansas City hospital.
