A preview for Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man #26 reveals new information about Ms. Marvel’s death.
Amazing Spider-Man #26 is written by Zeb Wells and illustrated by artist John Romita Jr. The preview for the issue provided by Marvel begins with a flashback set nine months in the past and shows Kamala Khan interviewing for a position at Oscorp Industries, where she’s worked throughout the course of the ongoing Amazing Spider-Man run thus far. When asked why she wants to work for Norman Osborn (formerly known as the Green Goblin but who has since turned himself a more heroic Gold Goblin), Kamala responds, “I’ve recently become aware of [Norman’s]…work. I’m very interested to learn more about what he’s doing here. I won’t take ‘no’ for an answer.”

The preview then jumps into the present and sees Ms. Marvel join Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Gold Goblin in a fight against a villain named Benjamin Rabin/The Emissary. Rabin previously transported Peter and Mary Jane Watson to an alternate, post-apocalyptic world that Mary Jane became trapped in for several years, which eventually led her to fall in love with a man named Paul, who she left Peter for and then adopted two children with.
Marvel Has Confirmed Ms. Marvel Will Die in Amazing Spider-Man
After the publisher previously teased Amazing Spider-Man #26 would be the “most shocking issue of Amazing Spider-Man in 50 years,” news of Ms. Marvel’s death leaked on the morning of May 16, 2023, before being confirmed by Marvel later that day. While some readers were nonplused by the news given Kamala’s likely quick resurrection, others expressed frustration and anger over Ms. Marvel being “fridged” in a different character’s series, among other concerns.
Fallen Friend: The Death of Ms. Marvel (by Mark Waid, Saladin Ahmed and G. Willow Wilson) releases in July 2023 and will see the Marvel Universe mourn the loss of Kamala Khan. The publisher said, “In the grand comics condition of other notable character deaths such as Captain America, Doctor Strange, and the original Captain Marvel, Fallen Friend: The Death of Ms. Marvel will be a crucial chapter in the Marvel mythos and serve as both a farewell for Ms. Marvel and a glimpse of her death’s impact on all of Marvel’s heroes.”
